THE Ministry of Interior Qatar participated in the conference held by the Cisco Networking Academy for its partners in Europe, Africa and the Middle East in Marrakesh. The delegation represented by the Communications Department at the ministry included Capt Abdul Aziz Essa al Anzi, Capt Saeed Mubarak al Hajri and First Lieutenant Musallam Saleh Saeed al Nabet al Marri.
During the conference, the Qatari delegation gave a presentation on the development that has taken place since the adoption of the Training and Development Section at Communication Department as a Cisco accredited academy last year. It has developed as an academic support centre and a training centre for lecturers. They explained how the academy contributed to providing training courses for Qatari government employees as well as awareness lectures for school-students in cooperation with the Public Relations Department of the MoI. They also noted its role in training the staff of the Ministry of Interior and the security authorities in Qatar in the field of network engineering and information systems for 10 years.
On the sidelines of the conference, the delegation of the Communications Department held a meeting with Piotr Pluta, director of Corporate Affairs, EMEA at Cisco, and Ahmed al Kabbani, regional manager, Corporate Affairs ME at Cisco. Piotr Pluta thanked the activities of the Cisco Academy at Communications Department and praised the important role played by MoI in leading digitisation and technological development in the region.
For his part, Capt Abdul Aziz Essa al Anzi, head of Training and Development Department of the Communications Department, thanked the Cisco Academy for its efforts in developing the Cisco Academy and providing excellent technical training in the field of network engineering and information systems.
An agreement was concluded to expand the work to more Qatari youth in the coming year and contribute to the dissemination of the required awareness about the importance of knowledge of the basics of cybersecurity and information technology for different groups of society. It was also agreed to add new courses to the Cisco Academy for Training and Development at Communications Department in 2019, such as the CCNA Wireless course, the CCDA course, the IoT Security course and the workshops on Network Programmability.
