Around 43 million gallons (163 million litres) of rainwater has been drained out of roads, tunnels and other public places in Qatar since Saturday noon, according to the Ministry of Municipality and Environment.
Several roads in Qatar became impassable as unprecedented levels of rainfall hit across the country on Saturday. Almost a year's worth of rain fell in just one day.
However, the ministry, together with the Public Work Authority (Ashghal), rose to the occasion and made 95 percent of the affected roads and tunnels navigable within 24 hours.
The emergency teams are continuing their intensive efforts to remove water from low-lying areas in all municipalities, the ministry said.
Ashghal, in a tweet, said water has been pumped out by Sunday morning from almost all tunnels and intersections. They have been opened for traffic, it added.

Expect showers today: CAA
The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) predicts overcast weather conditions on Monday, with showers and thunder expected in places at times, especially during the noon. The public have also been warned of the possibility of strong winds during the day.
Weather offshore will be partly cloudy with scattered rain, said the Qatar Meteorology Department (QMD), adding that the possibility of thunder and strong winds accompanying the rains might make the sea choppy.
Wind inshore will be mainly northeasterly at a speed of 5 to 15 knots reaching 25 knots with rain and thunder.
