The International Labour Organisation (ILO) has praised the new laws and regulations adopted by Qatar in recent years to promote labour rights.The organisation's appreciation of Qatar came during a meeting of an ILO delegation with the Qatar Chamber.
The opening of the ILO office in Doha last April was an important step in caring for the labourers, said ILO Labour Inspectorate Joaquim Pintado. During the meeting, the two sides discussed the means to enhance cooperation on common issues and matters related to work and labourers.
QC's Second Vice-Chairman Rashid bin Hamad al Athba affirmed the commitment of private sector companies in Qatar to applying international best practices in the field of work and labourers, and abiding by all laws and regulations governing the relationship between the employer and employees. (QNA)
