The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) on Tuesday signed five new contracts to develop infrastructure of 5,192 citizens' land plots at a total cost of around QR2.7 billion.
The projects include developing a total of 137 km of roads and 90 km of drainage networks, including sewage, storm water drainage and Treated Sewage Effluent (TSE) network.
Infrastructure project for citizens' sub-divisions in Al Kharaitiyat and Ezghawa were awarded to a joint venture between Al Ghanim International General Trading & Contracting Company and National Industrial Contracting Company. The project with an estimated cost of about QR671 million will serve 1,355 land plots and includes 40 km of roads, 4,200 parking lots and around 69 km of pedestrian and cycle lanes.
Qatar Trade and Contracting Group will complete the projects at a total value of QR645 million in Al Ebb and Leabib. It will serve 1,007 land plots and includes construction of 26 km of roads, 3,400 parking lots and 49 km of pedestrian and cycle lanes. This is in addition to providing sewage, storm water drainage and TSE networks.
A joint venture between UrbaCon Trading & Contracting Company and Infra Road Trading & Contracting will complete the projects at a total value of QR551 million in Muaither West and Al Manaseer. The project will serve 1,548 land plots and include construction of 30 km of roads, 11,000 parking lots and 120 km of pedestrian and cycle lanes.
Another project worth QR489 million was awarded to Boom Construction, which will develop 733 land plots and construct 22 km of roads as well as 90 km of pedestrian and cycle lanes.
As per another agreement, Bin Omran Trading and Contracting will develop projects in Al Mearaad and South West of Muaither at a total cost of QR356 million. The projects will serve 509 land plots and include construction of around 18 km of roads, 3,100 parking lots and 35 km of pedestrian and cycle lanes.
Ashghal President Saad bin Ahmad al Muhannadi said,"Ashghal awarded more than 75 projects at a total value of QR12 billion since beginning of 2018 related to infrastructure, drainage and buildings. The total cost of various projects is estimated to reach QR20 billion by the end of 2018. Eight projects for citizens' sub-divisions will be tendered before the end of the current year in Al Kharaitiyyat, Ezghawa, Al Ebb and Leabib, Al Mashaf South and Jaryan Njeima."
Manager of Roads Projects Department at Ashghal Saoud Ali al Tamimi said,"Ashghal gives great importance to infrastructure projects in citizens' sub-divisions. Priority will be given to areas where groundwater level is high and drainage networks are inadequate."
Eng Fatima Salat from Ashghal's Roads Projects Department gave a presentation on the 2018 plan for citizens' sub-divisions and the projects being implemented in different areas including Bani Hajer North, Rawdat Egdaim and Ezghawa, Al Foroush and Al Kharaitiyat, Al Nassiriya North, Al Wukair South, Muaither West and Al Shamal City.
These projects will serve more than 11,000 land plots, and most of them are expected to be completed in Q4, 2018 and Q3, 2019.
The event was attended by Ashghal officials, Central Municipal Council members and representatives of the companies which were awarded the projects.
