POLICE College celebrated the graduation of the second batch of diving and paragliding courses on Saturday morning.
Held under the patronage of the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al Thani, who is also chairman of the Supreme Council of the Police College, the event was attended by Maj Gen Abdullah Yusuf al Maal, advisor to HE the Minister of Interior and vice president of the Supreme Council of Police College. Maj Gen al Maal also honoured the graduates.
Besides, members of the Supreme Council of the Police College, directors of departments of the Ministry of Interior, parents of graduating students and a number of media representatives attended the ceremony.
Lt Muhammad Ahmad al Bouainian, officer of Police Training section at Police College said that the college has achieved a lot of success in terms of scientific training within a short period of its existence.
He pointed out that in the framework of promoting specialised programmes to enhance capabilities of the candidates, paragliding and diving courses were introduced at the college, which aim to give the candidates self-confidence and the ability to withstand difficulties.
He said that the Police College in cooperation with the Qatari Amiri Air Force and Lekhwiya provided all the requirements for the paragliding courses, in addition to deployment of the most skilled trainers and experts to deliver the specialised courses.
The diving and paragliding courses raise the level of physical training of students, providing them with advanced military skills. Moreover, the second batch of paragliding course graduates successfully demonstrated their paragliding skills learnt during the training by jumping off two 5,000 feet vertical planes, with flags of the State of Qatar, Lekhwiya force and Qatar Police College and landing safely and confidently.
On the occasion, Maj Gen Abdullah Yusuf al Maal expressed his happiness over the achievement of the second batch of diving and paragliding courses graduates, noting that the Police College has been developing its academic and training plans for the college students to keep up with the latest standards in the field.
He added that the college will provide the Ministry of Interior with its first batch of distinguished cadres in January next year.
Brig Muhammad Abdullah al Mohanna, director general of Police College stressed that the Police College is always seeking to prepare its candidates and train them according to the latest methods of training.
