QNB, the largest financial institution in the Middle East and Africa, held a blood donation campaign for its employees in cooperation with the Hamad Hospital Blood Donor Center.
The blood donation drive is one of QNB's many CSR initiatives that the Group holds in cooperation with Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) and other prominent organisations in Qatar and across its international network within its efforts to support the communities in which it operates. Held over three days at QNB's head office, Al Mathaf building and Grand Hamad branch, this year's campaign successfully brought together employees from all departments.
Building up on the success of the previous editions of the event, the campaign is aimed at strengthening the established objectives of enhancing blood bank stocks at HMC and raising awareness of the significance and benefits of blood donations in the community.
The event entitled the staff to undergo a blood pressure test, stamina and eligibility test prior to their donation to ensure their awareness of the importance of blood donation.
It also highlights the important partnership with HMC to promote public health and wellbeing. This initiative is one of the pillars of QNB's CSR strategy, which includes health, environment and other fields.
This initiative also benefits the donors as studies have shown that blood donation reduces cancer risk and other blood diseases. It also purifies the donor's system from toxins and stimulates blood circulation.
The Group's presence through its subsidiaries and associate companies now extends to more than 31 countries across three continents providing a comprehensive range of advanced products and services. The total number of employees is around 29,000 operating through more than 1,100 locations, with an ATM network of more than 4,400 machines.
