Macedonian president calls for a boycott on name change referendum

BELGRADE: Macedonian President Gorge Ivanov on Sunday called on his compatriots to boycott an upcoming referendum that will decide whether to rename their country the Republic of North Macedonia. Renaming the Balkan country"jeopardises the national identity,"he told local media in Skopje, explaining why he would not take part in the vote, currently scheduled for Sept 30. (DPA)
