The Local Organising Committee of the Qatar Gymnastics Federation for the forthcoming 48th Artistic Gymnastics World Championships Doha 2018 is meticulously planning various aspects of the first event to be held in the Middle East with great care and in detail.
Mohammed Abdullah Al Maraghi, Director of Institutional Support of the Organising Committee informed that among other things a traditional reception for all delegations and athletes of 83 countries is being planned for October 24.
The world championships to be staged at the Aspire Dome will be held from October 25 to November 3.
"A reception for delegations participating on October 24 with representatives from each country at the ceremony is being planned, said Al Maraghi.
Providing details, he said,"The ceremony will have a traditional welcome symbolising Qatar's heritage, custom and tradition. There will also be a closing ceremony for the championship and we are working continuously for the preparations to be complete as far as possible.
"We will also be providing all support to the sub-committees, including the two committees formed for the registration cards and the reception. We will also facilitate access to delegations participating through visas.
"In order to prepare in the best possible manner, the Organising Committee is putting its best foot forward and aims to deliver a historic Qatar version that will witness record unprecedented participation in the number of nations and athletes. We are ready to present the best picture as hosts," he stressed.
With regards to the accreditation cards for various services, Al Maraghi pointed out that the distribution of cards will be done in an accurate manner.
"There will be a large number of volunteers and staff at the distribution site to facilitate the process. The registration (for volunteers) was opened well in advance and will be closed on the 27th of this month. We are also cooperating with the security committee with regards to this. The cards will be issued after obtaining the approvals," he said.
Al Maraghi thanked the Higher Organising Committee for its support and of all the sub-committees in ensuring that the work is done in the best possible way.
"The Organising Committee includes Qatari cadres at the highest level. They have great experience through working in previous international sporting events. Our common goal is to achieve success. We are working on a given timeline and will do everything in terms of institutional support. We hope the championship will be staged in the best possible way and highlight Qatar's global position in organising top sports events," he said.
