The balance among architectural culture, economic feasibility, market needs, social benefits and minimum environmental impact is important, Barwa Real Estate Group CEO Salman al Mohannadi has said.
He was addressing a seminar, 'Qatar: No Limits of Architecture', held as part of the Qatar-Russia Year of Culture 2018 celebration held in Moscow.
Mohannadi also addressed the great role played by major companies such as Barwa Real Estate, which contributes significantly to the development of Qatari real estate in order to meet the country's urban needs, taking into account the desired balance in all aspects.
Arab Engineering Bureau CEO Ibrahim Mohammad al Jaidah, Advisor at Barwa Group Abdelwahed Elwakil and Ministry of Municipality and Environment's Urban Planning Department R&D head Ali Abdelrouf Ali Abouelsaad took part in the seminar.
The seminar opened with a welcome speech by Qatar's Ambassador to Russia HE Fahad bin Mohammad al Attiyah. He highlighted the importance of providing opportunities for exchanging experience and knowledge between both countries, especially in the field of architecture and urban development.
Ibrahim Mohammad al Jaidah addressed the urban changes in Qatar from the 1940s to the current urban situation, drawing on modern projects that have succeeded in reviving local identity in contemporary architecture.
Abdelwahed Elwakil praised the characteristics of the Islamic architecture, which respects traditions. He also compared it with the modern architectural designs inspired by different environments that may not be commensurate with the country's climate.
Ali Abdelrouf Ali Abouelsaad spoke about the reasons that made Doha the Middle East capital of the creative economy.
The seminar was moderated by Monika Konrad, project director at Strelka KB, Mikhail Alekseyevskiy, Head of Strelka KB Center for Urban Anthropology and Ville Hara, member of Finnish Architects Association, with more than 800 visitors and over 10,000 online viewers.
