Qatar on Thursday called on the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) to take active measures top end the vilolations of rights of Qatari citizens by the blockading countries.
In a speech at the 39th session of the Human Rights Council, Deputy Permanent Representative of Qatar to the UN in Geneva Abdullah al Nuaimi cited the report of the technical mission of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights that described the measures taken by the blockading countries as unilateral and coercive.
Nuaimi said Qatar regrets that the special rapporteur concerned with the subject failed to take any tangible measures.
He cited the verdict by the International Justice Court requiring the United Arab Emirates to implement provisional measures that limit the impact of some of the violations committed against Qatari citizens.
Nuaimi said UNHRC must work on ending those violations committed by the blockading countries, as those violations remain in place.
