The Ministry of Interior (MoI) has announced that a new project that enables expatriates coming to Qatar for work to complete all residency procedures in their home countries will begin in October.
The fingerprint biometrics data processing project aims to protect the rights of workers and it will also help save time for both the parties.
During a seminar on Thursday, Director of Visa Support Services Department at MoI Major Abdullah al Muhannadi said an expatriate worker will be able to complete fingerprint, biometrics data processing, medical examination and signing up work contract prior to his arrival in Qatar.
He said this process will be implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs. The project will be implemented in eight countries ” India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal, Tunisia, Philippines, Indonesia and Sri Lanka. The project will be implemented first in Sri Lanka.
The project works in cooperation with a Singapore-based company specialising in this exercise, at Qatar Visa Services Centres in the mentioned countries
The process starts with the submission of an electronic application by the employer at the MoI's website followed by an approval, which then goes to the worker who gets an appointment for biometrics data processing, medical examination and fingerprinting through the website.
The new system will make the recruitment process smooth by providing all recruitment services and procedures through one channel, Muhannadi said.
