Qatar has been negotiating with the United Nations Human Rights Committee for more than a year to find an international mechanism to guarantee the rights of Qatari citizens and prevent the violation of their rights by the siege countries, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al Thani has said.
Sheikh Mohammed said this at a joint press conference with Austrian Minister for Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs Karin Kneissl in Vienna on Wednesday in response to a question about the humanitarian dimensions of the Gulf crisis.
The Deputy PM met Karin and discussed bilateral relations and ways of strengthening them, in addition to a number of topics of common concern.
"Great to meet FM @Karin_Kneissl of #Austria and speak with her in Arabic. Discussed ways to expand our bilateral relations, and recent developments in the Middle East," Sheikh Mohammed said in a tweet.
Sheikh Mohammed stressed that Qatar aspires to develop bilateral relations, especially in the fields of development, research, technology, and education.
Regarding developments in Syria, Sheikh Mohammed said Qatar is closely monitoring the developments in Idlib, calling for the provision of international guarantees for the protection of civilians.
