THE Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME), represented by the Committee for the Removal of Abandoned Vehicles, carried out a comprehensive campaign to remove abandoned vehicles, machinery and equipment on the main streets and outside parking garages, after taking the legal procedures followed by the municipalities concerned.
During the campaign from April to August, 4,513 vehicles were removed from various municipalities.
The campaign comes as part of the attention given by the ministry to preserve the aesthetic and civilised appearance of the state.
Saleh Hassan al Kuwari, vice-chairman of the abandoned car removal committee, said the committee continues its inspection campaign within the administrative borders of all municipalities to achieve the desired goal of reducing this phenomenon. He called on all competent authorities to provide support to facilitate the committee's task of disposing of abandoned cars in the context of maintaining the general positive outlook of the state.
He also appealed to the owners of vehicles, equipment and machinery not to leave them in fields, by road sides, streets, sidewalks and land space so as not to become neglected, which is contrary to the provisions and regulations of executive decisions of the law (18) of the year 2017.
The law demands the owners of neglected cars to modify their situation in order to ensure the aesthetic appearance of the state.
The Committee for the Removal of Abandoned Vehicles called upon the public to cooperate and report any neglected cars on the hotline number.
