The Punjab Musical Group (PMG) organised a musical concert to mark the death anniversary of legendary Indian playback singer Mohammad Rafi at Skills Development Centre recently.
Pakistan’s singing sensation Nasir Abbas presented Rafi’s immortal songs to the great enjoyment of the Mohammad Rafi fans in the audience. Hailing from Sialkot in Pakistani Punjab, Abbas is a winner of Indian musical reality TV show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa in 2008.
The concert also featured local singers Mahinder Jalandhry, Jamshaid Bajwa, Tanveer Khan and Shahid Khan. Managing Director of Golden Ocean Hotel Kousar Hassan was the chief guest on the occasion.
Born on December 24, 1924, Rafi was one of the most popular singers of the Indian film industry popularly known as Bollywood. He had received six Filmfare Awards and one National Film Award. He was honoured with the Padma Shri award by the Government of India in 1967. He died on July 31, 1980.
PMG Chief Organiser Nazakat Ali Khan welcomed the guests and said the concert was a tribute to the renowned singer Mohammad Rafi who has won the hearts of millions around the globe by rendering eternally enjoyable songs.
The event was sponsored by Doha Bank, Golden Ocean Hotel, Punjab Restaurant, Satco International, LG Ambassador Travel, Skills Development Centre and King Sweets.
