THE Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) has intensified its inspection of food outlets ahead of Eid Al Adha festival to ensure their compliance with health regulations in terms of storage, sale and distribution of foodstuff.
The Health Supervision section of the Municipal Control Department at Al Wakra Municipality is carrying out inspections of food outlets, retailers, fruits and vegetable sellers as well as confectionary shops both in the morning and in the evening to ensure the safety of the products offered for consumption.
The municipality is also taking appropriate actions against food establishments that fail to comply with the required health norms.
The municipality has intensified inspection of fish market with the help of veterinarians to ensure that the available fish and seafood is fit for human consumption.
The municipality is strictly monitoring shops selling and preparing sweets and has also launched an awareness campaign for shopkeepers on food safety.
Similarly, Al Rayyan Municipality has planned strict monitoring of shops selling, preparing and processing sweets and selling nuts in preparation for Eid Al Adha and during the holidays.
The Health Supervision section of the Municipal Control Department at the municipality is planning to further intensify inspection of restaurants, cafeterias, poultry and fish shops.
It has also set a schedule for veterinarians to monitor slaughterhouses in Maqqab Al Rayyan and Maqsab Muaither during Eid holidays.
Moreover, municipal inspectors have been directed to be vigilant and prevent slaughtering if it takes place outside the licensed slaughterhouses.
The Health Control Department at Al Khor and Al Dhakira Municipality has intensified inspection of food outlets and slaughterhouses ahead of Eid Al Adha to ensure their compliance with the Human Food Control Law No 8 of 1990.
The inspectors ensure that the meat is preserved at the right temperature and each sacrifice has a seal on it along with identification cards to ensure its safety for human consumption.
The inspection tours also target confectionary shops, fruits and vegetables stores, bakeries and restaurants.
The Al Khor Municipality has prepared a daily schedule for intensive supervision of people's slaughterhouse with the help of veterinarians.
Slaughter will begin on the first day of the Eid after the Eid prayer until 5pm and the rest of the days from 5am to 5pm throughout the Eid Al-Adha holidays, except on Fridays, when it will start at 5am.
