Prime Minister and Minister of Interior HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al Thani on Saturday visited the roads and infrastructure (R&I) development projects being carried out by the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) in Al Froush and Al Kharaitiyat.
During the visit, the Prime Minister stressed on the importance of completing the projects on time and urged the Ashghal to maintain the required quality.
Ashghal Chairman Dr Saad bin Ahmed al Mohannadi said that the Prime Minister’s visit reflected his keenness to follow up the development of the project that benefits citizens directly.
He said Ashghal has completed more than 40 percent of the road and infrastructure development projects in areas allocated to eligible citizens through vouchers in Al Froush and Al Kharaitiyat. These projects will provide a network of safe roads, sewage line, drinking water facility, power supply and provisions for communication, among other amenities.
Ashghal has formulated a plan for the development of roads and other infrastructure for areas allocated to citizens through 10,400 new vouchers. Of them, 1,819 were completed in 2017 and four projects are being implemented for citizens’ lands serving 5,540 vouchers. Of them, 1,637 will be delivered this year in the areas of Al Froush, Al Kharaitiyat, Al Nasariya North, Azghwa and south of Al Wakir.
Also, 5,644 vouchers will be completed this year within Al Shamal city, Bani Hajar and Maither in addition to offering 15 projects during 2018 to serve 15,021 vouchers in several existing areas such as Al Mearad, Maither, Al Kharitiyat, Labib, Al Duhail, Al Mashaf South and Abu Hamour.
