Amman The Jordanian parliament has granted a vote of confidence to the country's new government, which was formed in June following nationwide protests. Official news agency Petra said in a statement late Thursday that 79 lawmakers voted in favour of the government of Omar Razzaz, 42 voted against and two others abstained after five days of discussions. Razzaz replaced prime minister Hani al-Mulki in June after anti-government protests against a draft income tax law, the latest in austerity measures adopted by the government in recent years. (dpa)
