Changes in the timetable of buses plying on certain routes will benefit a large number of low-income workers, especially those staying in newly-developed residential areas such as Bani Hajer and New Rayyan.
The changes were announced by Mowasalat on routes 40, 42, 43, 104, 727 and 737 to address the growing need for public transport in areas with increasing population.
It is noteworthy that the low frequency of buses has been a challenge for many workers residing in those areas despite the fact that the new localities boast of better connectivity with better road networks.
A senior official at Mowasalat had earlier told Qatar Tribune that the public transport company would launch new bus routes to cater to people living in newly-developed residential areas according to their requirements.
"New bus routes and related infrastructure will be provided by Mowasalat according to the population and new road network at the new residential areas," the official remarked.
It is worth mentioning that the increased frequency and late night services on weekends from 40 Al Ghanim to Shabiyat Khalifa via Bani Hajer introduced by Mowasalat recently benefited a large number of residents of these areas.
Slight changes in time schedule of buses plying on Al Ghanim to Hamad Hospital via New Rayyan route also help the passengers to access Hamad Hospital in their free time during evenings.
