QATAR Red Crescent Society (QRCS) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) have signed an agreement to finance the public health, water and sanitation project in Nepal in cooperation with the local government in the north of the country.
The agreement was signed by QRCS' Director of International Relief and Development Rashid Saadal Mohannadi and UNDP's country director in Nepal in Kathmandu, in the presence of the Ambassador of Qatar to Nepal HE Youssef bin Mohammed al Hail.
According to a statement issued by the QRCS on Saturday, the project would benefit about 2,000 families with an average of 10,000 people.
He pointed out that the project involves extending the drinking water distribution and purification networks, rehabilitating irrigation channels to improve the agriculture cycle and construction of a medical centre that suits the nature of the earthquake-prone area, as well as environmental sanitation and educational services.
The project comes as part of QRCS' continued support for stability and development projects in Nepal.
