QATAR Foundation (QF) is hosting a diverse range of family-friendly events and activities at schools and venues throughout Education City this summer.
QF's extensive summer calendar offers something for all ages and abilities, with a variety of athletic, academic, and other fun activities including swimming, trampolining, experimental art, baking, films, and football lined up for the coming weeks.
Machaille al Naimi, president of Community Development, QF, said:"We invite everyone to take part in our summer events this year, and experience the services and facilities that QF has to offer at Education City. Community development lies at the heart of everything we do at QF, and our exciting summer activities demonstrate our commitment to fostering a socially-engaged society and nurturing the mental and physical wellbeing of all members of the Qatar community. The diverse array of events and activities we have organised means there really is something for everyone."
Among the sport-orientated summer events taking place at QF is a Summer Volleyball Program at Awsaj Academy, teaching the basic skills of serving, passing, attacking and blocking to children aged from 9 to 12. The program, which runs until July 29, is free of charge and open to the public. The Awsaj Recreation Center is running swimming lessons and a mini swim camp for children and adults throughout the summer. Meanwhile, the swimming pool at the Qatar Foundation Recreation Center is open every Friday from 8am to 6pm.
Qatar Foundation Recreation Center will be hosting a 'Baking for Children' event for children aged from 4 to 12 on July 25, which will teach them to create healthy meals; while the Summer of Learning activity at the Education City Club House will give children the opportunity to conduct different science experiments.
Qatar Career Development Center (QCDC) hosts its Summer Career Camp 2018 at the Education City Student Center until July 12. The camp provides high school students with a stimulating experience that will help them to make informed academic and career decisions.
Sanea Summer Camp 2018, billed as the 'Ultimate Project-Based Makers' Camp for Kids', takes place at Qatar Academy Doha from July 8, while Camp Festival is holding its Summer Camp 2018 in Education City from 9am to 3pm, Sunday to Thursday, until August 2.
Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Qatar, a QF partner university, holds its Summer Art and Design Program 2018 for children and high school students daily at its Education City campus, and the Qatar Foundation Recreation Centre and the Education City Summer Camps are also providing a wide range of activities for children throughout the summer months.
Furthermore, a family event celebrating Eid Al Adha will take place on August 23 at the Education City Club House, showcasing Qatari traditions through a host of offerings, including henna tattoo, traditional food, and arts and crafts.
