DOHA
FILIPINO community groups recently came together to organise a clean-up drive along Al Wakra Beach as residents across Doha were celebrating Eid Al Fitr with their friends and families.
The initiative, led by The Filipino Community (TFC) in collaboration with Guardians group, gathered grassroots Filipino organisations to give back to the community by tidying up one of the most frequently visited destinations in Qatar during holidays.
"Filipinos strongly believe in helping others in all possible ways we can. We engage in community services like clean up campaigns to show our concern for our environment and our love and respect for Qatar as our second home," TFC Founder and President Emil Libres told Qatar Tribune.
The cleanup drive was also attended by Guardians Chairman Rolando Molon, Guardians President Aries Toledo, Brethren President Joven Pasiga and UFOQ Welfare and Outreach Chairman Jerry Ronquillo. Also present were members of Bayanihan ng Manggagawa sa Konstruksyon sa Qatar (BMKQ).
Libres added that the project was also aimed at strengthening bonds between the TFC and Guardians.
TFC with around 100 members is engaged in various outreach missions, including holding cleanup activities at different public places across Qatar. The group also actively supports community initiatives aimed at extending assistance to those in need. The Guardians is also actively supporting various outreach projects.
The outreach activity also served as a team building exercise for the groups, featuring various fun events for the members.
