Trade between Pakistan and Qatar has witnessed substantial growth and is set for further increase in coming days, outgoing Pakistan's Ambassador to Qatar HE Shahzad Ahmad has said.
Ahmad said Pakistan's exports to Qatar have increased by 63 percent in a year.
He said the trade between Pakistan and Qatar increased 500 percent during his tenure in Qatar."There has been a substantial increase in the bilateral trade from $200 million to $1 billion. Bilateral agreements in defence, trade and energy sectors have been signed with the aim of deepening the relationship between the two countries," Ahmad said, adding that this is just the beginning of a deep-rooted relationship.
He said that his four-and-a-half year stint in Qatar was highly fruitful.
"We developed deep bonds with the Qatari government by enhancing the connectivity, trade and providing more workforce. At the beginning of my tenure, the Pakistani workforce was around 90,000 and now the figure has increased to around 145,000." page 2
