HAMAD General Hospital's (HGH) Emergency Ward received as many as 655 patients, including 450 males and 205 females from 6am to 6pm on the third day of Eid Al-Fitr celebrations on Sunday.
Speaking to Qatar Tribune, Consultant and Head of Disaster Committee at HGH Emergency Department Dr Abdelnasser Houidi said the patients complained of back pain, abdominal pain and upper respiratory tract infection.
According to him, there were two cases of road traffic accidents as well, but they were not serious cases."Both patients are in stable condition," he said.
Houidi added that that the cases of abdominal pain received by the Emergency Ward of HGH pertained to change in the eating habit after a month-long fasting period rather than overeating.
"Most of these people were used to fasting for about 15 hours during the Holy Month of Ramadan. And now, all of a sudden, their routine has changed completely. Hence, they experienced abdominal pain," he remarked.
