THE festive events organised by the Ministry of Interior (MoI) on the occasion of Eid Al Fitr have attracted thousands of Asian expatriates, reflecting Qatar's interest in the welfare of all its residents as well as the MoI's keenness on community participation in various events.
The events, which took place at Asian Town in the Industrial Area and the Al Khor Industrial Zone, included traditional cultural performances by different communities and were praised by the spectators including largely members of Indian, Nepalese, Bengali and Sri Lankan communities.
The Eid celebrations also included awareness sessions in the areas of security and safety and the labour law, including the law regulating the entry and exit of expatriates.
The Department of Community Police, the General Directorate for Drug Control, the Human Rights Department, the Research and Follow-up Department, the General Directorate of Civil Defense, the Al Fazaa Police Department and the General Directorate of Traffic participated in presenting the awareness programmes.
Director of the Public Relations Department at the Ministry of Interior Brigadier Abdullah Khalifa al Muftah said that such events reflect the ministry's keenness to reach out to communities to enhance partnership with them.
He also praised the concerned departments of the ministry for participating in the event.
For his part, Director of Community Police Department Colonel Sultan Mohammed al Kaabi said that such events provide an opportunity to strengthen relations between the police and the community and enhance cooperation between them to achieve greater security and safety.
