WITH the light wind offering some respite to the residents of Qatar from the sweltering heat, a large number of residents thronged Souq Waqif, Corniche and MIA Park on the third day of Eid holidays on Sunday.
The eateries with their extended dining areas at Souq Waqif were packed to their capacities since the afternoon while the textile, gifts and sweets shops, which opened after two days at the souq, also received a number of visitors.
Another attraction at Souq Waqif restaurants is the live telecast of World Cup 2018. A fan of Brazil said,"The crowd at Souq Waqif is very passionate about football. It is interesting to see people supporting their favourite teams during the telecast of World Cup matches."
Salesman of a sweets shop told Qatar Tribune,"Traditional Arabic sweets and chocolates, which are presented as gifts during the Eid festival, are in great demand as usual."
Souq Waqif's Pet Market is another crowded area during the Eid holidays. Salesman of a pet shop said,"We have been open throughout the Eid holidays as pets require regular feeding and care. Besides, presenting pets as gifts on special occasions is in vogue these days. So, despite the fact that summer is not a season for pet business, our business has not been affected at all."
MIA Park also witnessed huge crowd of expatriate families on Sunday. Many families gathered at the hill-side eateries of the park. Member of an Asian expatriate family said,"MIA Park is an ideal location for family gathering. Its water-front sitting area gives you a splendid view of Doha's illuminated high-rise buildings at night."
Fun-filled activities were also held at landmarks and malls across the country, as well as at the Summer Entertainment City.
