Philippine Labour Secretary HE Silvestre H Bello III has lauded the continuous efforts of the Qatari government for the benefit of employees, especially Filipino expatriates.
Speaking at the Filipino community celebration at Al Rayyan Sports Club on Sunday, Bello lauded the programmes and reforms related to the protection and rights, saying the Qatari Labour Law protects employment in general, and must be adopted in the whole region through the International Labour Organisation.
"Our government truly appreciates all the laws and rules governing the treatment of our overseas workers here. We feel that the laws of Qatar government are very effective in terms of protecting Filipino workers. This is the very reason why Qatar has been selected for the foreign celebration of our Independence Day. It is to show to our friends in Qatar that we truly appreciate how they treat our overseas Filipino workers (OFWs)," Bello said.
Qatar's labour law provides many provisions that offer maximum protection to workers, he said.
