Qatar is all set to celebrate Eid Al Fitr with people thronging shopping centres and malls to buy Eid specials including clothes, home decorations and sweets to soak in the festive spirit.
A large number of shoppers have been flooding malls in the last week of Ramadan to benefit from the wide selection of deals and promotional offers on various products, including children and adults' outfits, home decorations, and sweets for the festivities.
"The demand for Eid outfits, especially for children, has increased significantly a few days as the holy month of Ramadan draws to an end," a sales agent at a clothing store in Doha Festival City told Qatar Tribune on Tuesday.
The sales agent said the blockade has had no impact on the usual trends observed each year in terms of increasing demand for certain products before Eid.
A vendor at a sweets' shop at the Mall of Qatar said,"Each year, we start making Eid-themed sweets and gifts as there's a greater demand for these products. This year, along with the Eid theme, we are offering Qatar-themed patriotic decorations, including 'Tamim Al Majd' logos and Qatar's flags because we have noticed a great interest in these items during all occasions over the past year."
A Qatari citizen visiting one of the shopping malls said,"The festive atmosphere can be sensed everywhere as people go out frequently in preparation for Eid celebration."
She said the whole country ” its institutions, citizens, and residents ” have rode over the blockade which has failed to impact any aspects of daily life."We didn't feel anything is lacking in terms of Eid preparations or any other aspect of our usual routines. On the contrary, we are noticing a greater variety of new shops, brands, and local Qatari projects," she explained.
