AMBASSADOR of Argentina to Qatar HE Rossana Surballe said that she is very satisfied with the improvement in the bilateral relations between Argentina and Qatar since the opening of Embassies of the two countries in 2013.
Surballe, the first Ambassador to be posted in the Embassy of Argentina in Doha, is ending her five-year assignment in Qatar next month.
"Both government of Qatar and Argentina are strong-willed in strengthening and improving their bilateral relations. The possibility of opening the Embassy of Argentina in Qatar and putting for the first time our flag is very touching to me," the Ambassador said.
She said during the last five years, Argentina and Qatar signed several agreements highlighting the relationship of the two countries including agreements between Argentine Republic and Qatar on the formation of a Joint Ministerial Trade Commission signed in 2014 and MoU on Mutual Cooperation in Training between the Diplomatic Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship of the Argentine Republic and the Diplomatic Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar.
The two countries also signed MoU for cooperation in the legal field, bilateral agreement for the Promotion and Protection of Reciprocal Investments between Qatar and Argentina and agreement for the Avoidance of Double Taxation and the agreement on the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with respect to Taxes on Income and on Capital signed last year which will serve as base for Argentine and Qatari businessmen to work together more closely.
"From my personal point of view, being in Qatar had been a nutritious experience for my soul because I have learned many things. It has opened my mind. I will always have in my heart the people I met here," the envoy added.
On the occasion of the Holy Month of Ramadan, Ambassador Surballe expressed her best wishes to the government and people of Qatar.
"Ramadan is a special time for many people. I hope the light of Ramadan can enlighten the hearts and minds of the leaders of the region in order to find a way to reach an agreement," the Ambassador remarked.
