Khurram and Iqbal turned in crucial all-round performances and lifted Galfar Al Misnad to a 39-run victory over Green Lions in the Ramadan Cup Twenty20 Cricket Tournament, hosted by the Qatar Cricket Association.
At the Asian Town Cricket Stadium, Galfar Al Misnad, despite having been rattled by Zainu (four for 17) and Shakir (two for 31), managed to put up a fighting 139 for eight. Khurram and Harsha rallied and collected 68 runs for the sixth wicket.
Khurram hit 38 off 40 balls with a six and two fours, while Harsha chipped in with 38 in 36 deliveries, including two sixes.
Later, Iqbal cracked two sixes in his 16-ball 22.
Khurram grabbed three wickets for just six runs in his four overs and Iqbal also dismissed three players for 13 to trigger the collapse of Green Lions. From a good-looking 84 for three in 11 overs, they suddenly crumbled to 100 all out in 17 overs after Mansoor got run out to make it 86 for four in 12 overs.
Shahid hit 34 in 23 balls, including five fours, and Mudassar added 32 in 21 balls, which contained two sixes and four boundaries.
Khurram was given the man of the match award.
Shafiq fuelled Al Hamra to defeat Al Noof by 27 runs in a B and C Divisions category match, after his team ran up a challenging 156 for eight in 18 overs.
Al Hamra were struggling at six down for 69. Shafiq, whose 23-ball 40 contained four sixes, and Hanif forged a fine 72-run partnership for the seventh wicket. Hanif got 29 in 23 balls. Lasantha's 17 off 11 balls also proved handy in the end. Furqan, Firoz and Kumar Thapa shared six wickets.
Al Noof suffered a setback in the first over but recovered gallantly through a 69-run stand for the second wicket, shared by Salman and Tariq. However, once the alliance was split, they could just reply with 129 for seven. Salman smashed two sixes and four boundaries to collect 50 on 33 balls, while Tariq hit 31.
Mohammad Adnan was the most successful bowler with two for 24, while Dinesh and Rifan had one each. Al Hamra's fielding was also impressive as it helped them force three run outs.
