Khartoum
Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has launched a Ramadan initiative to provide assistance for 5,000 poor families in Sudan's Khartoum.
Qatar's Ambassador to Sudan HE Rashid Abdulrahman al Nuaimi said that a convoy of Ramadan foodstuffs moved on Friday from the Qatari Embassy in Khartoum to the outskirts and suburbs of Khartoum.
He said the initiative is an effort of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to support some needy groups and families in the brotherly Sudan during the holy month.
This assistance is targeting about 5000 of the less privileged families there.
The ambassador pointed to another effort by Qatar Charity to support orphans and needy families in other parts of Sudan and to set up iftar meals tables in some locations since the beginning of Ramadan in a joint effort with Sudanese organisations.
