THE Indian Community Benevolent Forum (ICBF) will organise the 34th edition of its medical health camp in association with Ministry of Public Health on Friday.
At the camp, ICBF will make the Hamad health card available to low income Indian expatriates. More than 1,000 expatriate Asian workers are expected to benefit from the move.
Speaking at a press conference in Doha on Wednesday, ICBF President Devis Edakkalathoor said,"Low-income workers who attend the camp will be offered medicines free of cost and if the patients need further medical aid and treatment, they will be referred to HMC. Meanwhile, Indian workers among them will be offered a free health card for further and continued treatment. ICBF has issued over 1,000 medical cards to low income groups at various medical camps conducted in 2017."
The participants who will attend the camp will go through many check-ups including cholesterol, diabetes, blood pressure and dental.
Indian Doctors Club official Joji Mathew said,"A total of 23 general physicians will attend the camp. The event will also be an ideal humanitarian and social service opportunity for students of Weill Cornell Medicine Qatar."
Leading pharmaceutical chain Wellcare Group will provide medicines free of cost at the camp.
Wellcare Group official Muhamad Farooq said,"If the medicines prescribed are not available at that time, patients will be able to take them from any of our outlets in Doha and outside."
A yoga session offered by 'Yoga in Doha' for the participants will be the other highlight of the camp.
The press conference was attended by Medical Commission Supervisor Abdulrahim Mohammed al Mushiri and ICBF Vice-President PN Baburajan and other officials of ICBF.
