CURTAINS came down on the 7th edition of the Senyar Festival on Saturday with a closing ceremony held on Katara beach in which awards were distributed to the winners in the presence of a large number of citizens and residents.
General Manager of Katara Cultural Village, Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al Sulaiti honoured the winning teams which came in first place in the Al-Laffah (a fishing technique) and Senyar family competitions.
Al Falah team, led by Mohammed Abdullah al Khulaifi, won Al-Laffah competition with the largest fish catch of 199.8kgs, followed by Al Areeq team led by Abdullah Hamad al Nasr which came second with 192.4kgs. The third place went to team Khor Al Udeid led by Adnan Mohammed al Hammadi which caught 186.4kgs of fish.
Sulaiti also honoured the winners of the Senyar family competition which was held for the first time at Senyar Festival. The Senyar team led by Mohamed Abdel Aziz al Haram bagged first prize in the contest whereas Tamim Al Majd team led by Rabei Issam Karam and Al Barghouth team led by Firas al Nomani came second and third respectively.
