The 29th Arab Summit concluded on Sunday in Dhahran after discussing means of enhancing joint Arab action and addressing challenges and threats facing the Arab region.
Qatar took part in the summit with a delegation headed by Permanent Representative of Qatar to the Arab League HE Saif bin Muqaddam al Buainain.
In its final statement, the summit stressed the importance of promoting joint Arab action which is based on a clear methodology and solid foundations that protect the nations from the dangers threatening it, safeguard security and stability and secure a promising future that holds hope and prosperity for future generations.
The statement underscored the centrality of the Palestinian cause to the Arab world, and the Arab identity of Occupied East Jerusalem, the capital of Palestine, pointing to the importance of a comprehensive and lasting peace in the Middle East.
The statement also slammed the US decision to recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and categorically rejected it, pointing out that Jerusalem will remain the capital of Arab Palestine.
The statement warned against taking any measures that would change the current legal and political status of Jerusalem, which will have repercussions affecting the entire Middle East.
It also condemned attempts to destabilise security and stir up sectarian conflicts.
The statement also condemned the Syrian regime's use of internationally prohibited chemical weapons against its people and called on the international community to stand against these practices in order to achieve justice and enforce international humanitarian law.
