Qatar and Ukraine on Tuesday pledged to strengthen bilateral relations with the signing of a slew of agreements.
The Emir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani and President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko held official talks at the Emiri Diwan on Tuesday.
Welcoming the Ukrainian President and his accompanying delegation, the Emir said the visit would strengthen cooperation between the two countries in various fields.
The Ukrainian President praised the strong bilateral relations and stressed that he was looking forward to further develop them.
During the talks, the Emir and the Ukrainian president discussed ways to strengthen relations between the two countries in various fields, especially in economy, trade, energy and agriculture.
They also addressed the most important regional and international issues.
The Emir and Poroshenko witnessed the signing of several agreements between the two countries.
Qatar and Ukraine signed agreements on mutual cancellation of visa requirements, technical military cooperation, establishment of a joint economic and technical cooperation committee, promotion and protection of mutual investments, avoidance of double taxation and prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Qatar University and Taras Shevchenko National University of Kiev was also signed.
