A large number of people thronged the Qatar International Food Festival (QIFF) at Hotel Park on Friday to get a taste of the sumptuous delicacies on offer.
The second day of the country's longest-running food festival being a weekend, it saw people from all walks of life turning up at the venue in large numbers.
Live cooking demonstrations by world renowned chefs at the festival's signature feature, the QIFF Cooking Theatre, was a big draw. The visitors got to know how to prepare, cook, present and even photograph the food.
Organised by Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA), the 11-day culinary festival brings a rich mix of flavours, cultures and entertainment.
Speaking to Qatar Tribune, QTA Director of Festivals and Tourism Events Marshal Sahib said,"As per our analysis of major festivals, Friday is the busiest day ever. That's why there are a lot of activities so that people can enjoy in every spot."
Jane, who visited the venue, said,"I love the food offered here. The food is nice and available at a very low price. We tried food from different restaurants with my family and we are happy to come here. We will definitely come back before the festival concludes," she said.
Sarah, another visitor, said,"The festival is organised at a very nice location. My children were able to play in the sprawling green areas. We thank the organisers and hope they organise such a festival more often."
Alcona, manager of Saran restaurant participating in the food festival, said they were serving different kinds of food ranging from appetizers to main courses and desserts.
"With the festival, we hope that many people will get to know about our restaurant. QIFF is advertising us because people will get to know about our brand," she said. Saran serves Indian cuisine.
Micah, the supervisor of Nova Venetia, said this was the second time that the brand was participating."We expect to have more sales during the weekends," she said.
Anita, a captain at the Gordon Ramsay Opal, said this was not the first time they are participating in the festival."We are happy to come back and hopefully the sales will be better compared to the previous years," she said.
The festival will run from 4pm to 12midnight from Saturday to Wednesday and will extend to 1am on Thursdays and Fridays.
