Bazm-e-Urdu Qatar recently organised a reception and mushaira in honour of fiction writer Naushabah Khatoon and poet Nadeem Jeelani Danish recently.
A prose session and a poetry session were also held as part of the event. The programme was presided over by Bazm-e-Urdu Qatar Chief Patron and Satco Group Director Mohammad Sabih Bukhari, while Naushabah Khatoon was the chief guest and Nadeem Jeelani Danish the guest of honour. The programme commenced with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by Qari Saif ur Rahman.
After the welcome address by Bazm General Secretary Ahmad Ashfaque, Naushaba Khatoon's book Khizan Ke Baad was launched and Bukhari presented mementoes to the chief guest and guest of honour.
Khatoon said,"The Urdu language is gaining ground in Qatar. It is interesting to note that many expatriates including Indians, Pakistanis and Nepalese are being drawn to this language and have started understanding poetry, literature and Urdu culture".
Anjuman-e-Mohiban e Urdu Hind - Qatar Chairman and Founder Ibrahim Khan Kamal presided over the mushaira, in which more than 18 poets presented their couplets.
Nadeem Jeelani Danish lauded the activities of Bazm-e-Urdu Qatar.
Bukhari congratulated the Bazm and its members for organising a very enlightening and successful programme and assured all help from his organisation. He said transferring the culture of Urdu to the new generation was the need of the hour and awareness should be raised among parents about the benefits of teaching Urdu to children. He also requested teachers and others in schools whose mother tongue is Urdu to play a vital role in promoting the language.
