Rizwan Malik and Waqas batted superbly to guide Qatar Stars to a comfortable 44-run victory over Doha Warriors in the Qatar Airways Division A Twenty20 Cricket Tournament at the West Bay Grounds.
Batting first, Qatar Stars put up a fighting total of 151 for six in 20 overs on the board. Malik, who was later adjudged the Man of the Match, slammed a six and four boundaries in his 52. His knock came off 49 balls.
Waqas also battled brilliantly and his run-a-ball 40 contained two sixers and five boundaries, which lifted his team past 150-mark. Israfeel took two wickets for 26.
Doha Warriors batted poorly and folded up at 107 in 20 overs with Sajjad being the pick of the bowlers. He grabbed two wickets for just seven runs to send them crashing all out. Zuhaib made 36 with half a dozen fours in 33 balls.
In another match in the QCA T20 Tournament against Gulf Colours Lagaan, Yasir dominated with his blazing 88, coming off only 53 balls. He blasted two towering sixes and 14 boundaries to prop up his team to a successful chase of 148-run target for the loss of a mere three wickets.
Gulf Colours Lagaan, earlier batting first, ran up 147 for nine in 20 overs. Aziz, who was the lone batsman to resist, compiled a gritty 47 with three sixers and four hits to the rope in 26 balls. Naved bowled well and ignited the collapse with two for six runs.
