Despite all the difficulties and obstacles, Qatar Charity (QC) managed to reach Ghouta and distributed emergency relief aid to the affected people, in an urgent response to alleviate the suffering of the inhabitants of eastern Ghouta, who are suffering from a suffocating siege and extremely difficult humanitarian conditions.
Qatar Charity is among the first humanitarian organisations to provide immediate assistance to support those affected inside Ghouta at a cost of QR2.2 million, which benefited thousands of people.
Faisal al Fahida, executive director of QC's Executive Management of International Operations, said Qatar Charity's emergency relief aid has been provided to the people of Ghouta due to the suffering of more than 400,000 people for six years, whose conditions have even worsened recently.
He pointed out that the aid includes: food baskets, fast food, medical supplies, ambulances and non-food items such as sheltering equipment, blankets and others, noting that Qatar Charity has also provided hot meals during the past few days by setting up a field kitchen.
He added that the relief campaign for the people of Ghouta will continue because of the continuous Syrian regime's air strikes killing civilians under the suffocating siege, which requires prompt attentions of the philanthropists in Qatar to support the families suffering from severe shortage of basic living needs.
He thanked those who donated to the QC's relief campaign since the beginning of the crisis to support affected people inside and outside Syria. He also appealed to Qatari philanthropists and residents to continue to support the people of Ghouta and their families.
In the same context, Qatar Charity has also provided emergency relief to 690 Syrian refuges affected by floods that swept through northern Lebanon in the past few days.
People can donate to 'Affected By Winter' Campaign through Qatar Charity's website (qcharity.org), App and at its headquarters, branches inside the country, collection points located in commercial complexes and through the hotline 44667711.
It is noteworthy that Qatar Charity projects for the relief of the affected Syrians benefited more than 16.2 million displaced people and refugees in the areas of food, shelter, health and education since April 2011 until the end of December 2017, which cost about QR544.5 million.
