The Bazm-e-Sadaf International has announced the Bazm-e-Sadaf International award braai Urdu Tahreek (International award for promotion of Urdu) for 2017.
According to Bazm-e-Sadaf Chairman Shahabuddin Ahmad, the jury has decided to confer the prestigious award on eminent Doha-based businessman and Urdu organisation Karwan-e-Urdu Qatar Chairman Azim Abbas. The award will be given at an international Urdu literary festival organised by Bazm-e-Sadaf International at University of Hyderabad, India on April 2.
The Bazm-e-Sadaf International Award comprises a shawl, a citation and a memento. Bazm-e-Sadaf International was established in 2015 by the expatriate residents in Qatar, GCC countries and in India. Bazm-e-Sadaf an international literary group, publishes international journal Resala Sadaf in Urdu, organises international lectures on various subjects, as also symposia and mushairas.
Many noted speakers from South East Asia have attended functions organised by the forum in 2015, 2016 and 2017 in Qatar as well as in different parts of India."Our aim is to provide a platform for advancement of cultural, social and literary activities for the entire South East Asian community and also to invite literary figures residing in GCC countries.
While announcing the awards, Chairman Shahabuddin Ahmad remembered the awards of 2016 which were conferred on Hassan A Karim Choughule (Doha) and Mahtab Qadr (Jeddah).
Azim Abbas has been living in Qatar for over three decades. He is a successful businessman and the managing director of Al-Suleiman Jewellery and Watches. He is socially very active and always remains at the forefront of welfare activities. He is also the Chairman of the Indian Sports Centre, former president of the Indian Business Council and Director of DPS-MIS School.
Bazm-e-Sadaf Director Safdar Imam Quadri congratulated Azim Abbas. He said the April 2 function will be witnessed by authors, critics and research scholars from Australia, Germany, Britain, Canada, Qatar, Bangladesh and Mauritius . He hoped that the event would be remembered as a mega event.
Bazm-e-Sadaf International General Secretary (abroad) Ahmad Ashfaque, Media Secretary Tahir Jamil, members of the Central Governing Council, patrons and office-bearers from India, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Germany, Canada, UK, Bangladesh all have greeted Azim Abbas on his selection for the prestigious award.
