Former deputy prime minister of Canada and Quebec ex-premier Jean Charest has said Qatar, which is braving an unjust siege imposed by some of its neighbours, has become more resilient.
Speaking to Qatar Tribune in Doha, the Canadian leader expressed his respect for the Qatari position in the diplomatic crisis and praised the way the country has been handling it.
"We are very supportive of all the efforts that have been made to mediate and we want this conflict to be resolved because it is in the interest of all the countries that are involved," Charest said.
He said Canada looks forward to strengthening its bonds with Qatar and was ready to contribute to the mediation efforts.
"In the meantime, we are here in Qatar which says something, and actions speak louder than words," he said.
Charest is on a tour of Middle East and has arrived in Qatar to bolster the two countries' economic partnership.
"The reason behind (the) visit is to enhance business relations with Qatar," he said, adding that the two sides have expertise in the oil and gas field besides other areas of business.
