Aziz and Qari set up a stirring six-run victory for Gulf Colours Lagaan against Bangladesh XI during their Qatar Airways Twenty20 Cricket Tournament for Division A.
At the West Bay Grounds, Aziz hit 42 with two sixes and five boundaries in his 22-ball blitz, which took the winners to 162 for eight in 20 overs. Ameen, who smashed 36 in just 14 balls with three sixes and four boundaries, and Mathiras, with 39 off 51 deliveries, lifted the team past 150-run mark.
Shehar (three for 14) and Moin took five between them to prevent the rivals from dominating the match fully.
Qari picked three scalps and Aziz grabbed two when they enabled Gulf Colours Lagaan to restrict at 156 for nine in 20 overs, securing the fine victory. Moin was the lone fighter for Bangladesh XI, hitting 51 off 42 balls.
In another Division A match, Faizal and all-rounder Bukhari sparked City Exchange's seven-wicket romp against Doha Warriors. Two wickets each from Bukhari and Nishad limited Doha Warriors to 125 for nine in 20 overs. Saeed was the top-scorer with 58, including three sixes and four shots to the fence. Zuhaib contributed 33 in 40 balls.
Faizal led the chase with a racy 55, which came off 32 balls with 10 fours and a six. Bukhari collected 23 in 21 balls, including a six and a four, to see City Exchange home in 13.5 overs. Awais dismissed two players.
Three matches were played in the Division C. Jamshed (66 runs with three sixes and eight fours in 35 balls) guided Malabar XI to a 55-run triumph against QDB Fighters, Zainuddin (55 with four sixes and six boundaries in 34 balls, lifted Trinity Club to a massive 75-run victory over Sprite Club and Wasim's 63 with a six and eight fours took Kokan Pride to a five-wicket win over Abu Issa Holdings.
