QATAR is set to host the 10th Quality Conference under the theme 'Quality and Protection of Information Systems' in Doha on February 28.
The conference, being organised by Gulf Development Centre, has Qatar's Ministry of Interior (MoI) as its strategic sponsor as part of the latter's commitment to ensure provision of the best and safest services to people.
Addressing a press conference on Monday, Chairman of Gulf Development Centre Muhammad Swalih al Kuwari said that the focus of this year's conference will be on information security in public and private institutions and adopting a quality approach in it.
"The title of the conference 'Quality and Protection of Information Systems' itself suggests the important role played by quality systems in the protection of information systems," Kuwari said.
Kuwari also praised MoI's support for the quality conference, which, according to him, bore testimony to Qatar's keenness to spread quality culture in society.
The press conference was also attended by Assistant Director of Strategic Planning Department Major Khalid al Mohannadi.
Kuwari said that the conference aimed at educating the society on the importance of quality systems in securing the information.
"Moreover, this is to complement the efforts and endeavours of our wise leadership in ensuring the security of information in public and private institutions in the wake of the hacking of QNA a few months ago," he pointed out.
He added that the conference will feature many relevant topics, such as the effective role of information security in maintaining public security and the importance of global quality systems.
"The conference will highlight the quality systems and their contribution to information security. For example, it will discuss building and protecting assets in the real estate and industrial sectors," Kuwari clarified.
He added that it will also cover the effective role of information security in maintaining public security.
Kuwari urged university students and professors to attend the event in large numbers. A number of ISO-certified companies will also be attending the conference. Entry to the event is free of charge.
