The Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) is hosting exhibitions entitled 'Untitled Faces' by the Algerian artist Hamza Bounoua and '12/120' with the participation of an elite of Qatari and Arab artists.
The exhibitions were inaugurated by Katara General Manager Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al Sulaiti at Katara Art Center.
The 'Untitled Faces' exhibition displays 18 paintings in which the artist used different artistic techniques with an aim to reflect the Arab citizens as they tend to face issues, dreams and aspirations.
Bounoua said, through his paintings, he seeks to rephrase the Arab reality.
He said,"I have worked to get, from the human features, a mode that reflects their psychological, cultural and social status as well as their feeling of chaos. For example, in one of my paintings, I focused on the refugee's issue where the frightening features are present but also brushed to showcase hope and belief in change."
On the other hand, the '12/120' exhibition entails 120 art pieces completed by 12 artists from different nationalities.
The artists are Manar al Muftah and Salman al Malik from Qatar, Jamal Abdul Rahim from Bahrain, Leila Shawa and Mohammad al Wahibi from Palestine, Bachir Mohammed, Edwar Shahda and Fateh Moudarres from Syria, Mohammed Quraish from Iraq, Amr Kafrawy from Egypt, Hamza Bounoua from Algeria and Meshail Faisal from Kuwait.
The exhibition displayed different works, where the artists, who belong to different backgrounds and art schools, painted diversified topics, which includes, childhood, features from the past and the psychological changes that people undergo.
The 'Untitled Faces' exhibition will continue until February 17, while the '12/120' exhibition is scheduled to last until the end of February.
