QATAR Fund for Development (QFFD) signed on Wednesday a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies (DIGS) to provide scholarships of around QR20 million for international students, especially those from conflict zones who are pursuing their graduate studies at the Institute, during the next four years.
The MoU was signed by QFFD Director-General Khalifa bin Jassim al Kuwari and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the DIGS Dr Azmi Bishara.
The MoU aims at launching the Qatar scholarship programme, which is adopted and backed by the QFFD in collaboration with the DIGS and other Qatari universities, to promote academic cooperation and benefit with the aim to support scientific research on topics of interest to developing countries and within QFFD's strategy.
Under the MoU, the QFFD will provide financial support to international students who complete their graduate studies at the DIGS. The two sides will also enhance cooperation in several areas, including organising joint events related to the QFFD's external support and conducting research, conferences and related seminars. The DIGS will provide training programmes and courses for members of the QFFD in various administrative and research areas, in addition to special disciplines offered by the DIGS's colleges and programmes.
