HEC Paris, one of the world's leading providers of executive education, presented an updated version of its Specialised Master's in Business Unit Management (SBUM) degree programme in Doha on Tuesday.
The updated Master's degree is designed to give participants a distinct advantage in today's competitive employment market.
The 18-month programme targets professionals and entrepreneurs seeking to enhance their leadership and management skills or looking at managing their own business. The programme structure includes a core curriculum taken by all participants, a professional thesis writing and the flexibility to customise part of the programme by following one of three tracks aligned to participants' chosen career aspirations: general management, marketing and sales or human resources management.
The general management track is a learning journey from the perspective of a business unit manager. It allows participants to gain a deeper understanding of business environments and leadership skills exploring strategies for success. The marketing and sales track will enable participants while to design, lead and execute innovative solutions in order to sustainably boost marketing and sales performance. Participants following the HR management track will learn to design, direct and implement best practices to steer HR departments, discover how to drive employee engagement and contribute to corporate and national visions.
Dr Nils Plambeck, Dean and CEO of HEC Paris in Qatar, Dr Wolfgang Amann, SBUM Academic Director, and Omran Yousef MH al Sherawi, AGM, Head of Asset and Liability Management at Commercial Bank and SBUM Alumnus class of 2013, addressed the launch event held at the HEC Paris Doha Campus at Tornado Tower.
Dr Plambeck said:"At HEC Paris, we have a deep understanding of today's global business landscape, and the expertise to develop professionals with the skills they need to further enhance their leadership and management skills. In partnership with Qatar Foundation, we are committed to training and developing the region's business leaders of tomorrow."
A team of experts led by Dr Amann will guide participants through the core curriculum that will focus on understanding, creating and implementing a successful strategy, understanding finance, leadership and change management. They will also have access to renowned HEC Paris faculty Prof. Francois Railliet, who will lead the HR management track, and Prof. Christopher Hogg, who will lead the marketing and sales track.
The 10-day track in marketing and sales or HR management from the degree programme can also be taken separately as certificates. Additionally, some modules from those tracks can be selected as executive short programmes spanning over two to three days. These executive short programmes cover the following topics: marketing through social media, sales excellence, developing and growing talent, diversity management through HR and negotiation skills.
All executive short programmes and certificates taken separately can be used towards the specialised Master's degree programme at a later stage.
The next intake for the new SBUM programme will be in July 2018.
