Farook College Old Students Association (FOSA) Qatar, an expatriate alumni gathering in Qatar, is all set to conduct 'Salute Qatar' on February 9. The event aims to salute the nation and its leaders for the brave stand during the unjust blockade.
The event will comprise a live orchestra led by Bollywood singer and AR Rahman team member Mohammed Aslam. The musical extravaganza will start with the Qatar National Anthem expressing the participants' allegiance to the country which is their second home.
Mohammed Aslam, a playback singer from South India, is known for his stage performance 'Aslam Nite' dedicated to music legend Mohammed Rafi. Aslam has also earned international acclaim with over 2,000 stage shows to his credit, performed across India, Middle East, US and UK.
His first song as a playback singer was Naan Uravukaaran from the film Nattamai directed by K S Ravikumar in 1994, after which he continued to sing in several Tamil and Telugu movies. Later, he worked with AR Rahman for hit films like Rang De Basanti and Jodha Akbar. He was also a part of AR Rahman's world tour.
According to FOSA Qatar office-bearers, Aslam along with his expert BG Team will showcase a three-and-a-half hour live performance of old and new popular songs from Hindi and Tamil, which will be a new experience in Doha. The show will be hosted by a well-known singer-cum-anchor from Qatar, along with local Hindi FM RJs.
The show will held at Holiday Inn Ballroom in a dine and sing along style on February 9.
In addition to the musical treat, a business session of FOSA will also be held at the venue prior to the show and will be attended by Indian Embassy officials, FOSA office-bearers, Farook College principal and prominent local personalities.
