In preparation for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia, Tunisia's national football team arrived in Doha on Tuesday to attend a two-weeks training camp in Aspire Zone Foundation.
The team's open training sessions will kick off on Wednesday at 6:30pm at Aspire 's outdoor pitch 8, which is accessible for football fans.
Tunisia qualified for the World Cup finals after it finished on 14 points in Group A of the African preliminaries, one ahead of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Tunisia have been to four previous World Cup finals and were the first African country to win a game at the finals in 1978.
Team coach and former El Jaish tactician Nabil Maaloul selected 26 players to join the training camp. These include Aymen Mathlouthi, Moez Ben Cherifia, Karim Aouadhi, Maher Ben Sghaier, Firas Belarabi, Rami Bedoui, Anice Badri, Mohamed Amine Ben Amor, Khalil Chemmam, Ghailan Chaalali, Firas Chaouat, Ali Alabedi, Ahmed Khalil, Taha Yassine Khenissi, Hamza Mathlouthi, Yassine Meriah, Hamdi Nagguez, Ferjani Sassi, Aymen Trabelsi, Zied Ounalli, Walid Hichri, Saif-Eddine Sharafi, Makram Bedery, Jasser Khemiri, Alaeddine Marzouki and Fousseny Coulibaly.
Commenting on the occasion, Ibrahim al Hilal, Head of Federations and Clubs Events at AZF, said:"We welcome the Tunisian national football team in their second home, Doha. We're proud that Aspire Zone Foundation is a key stop for the team in their preparations for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia. Aspire Zone Foundation will open its state-of-the-art facilities and utilise the expertise of its world-class trainers to help the team achieve success, bringing Aspire Zone Foundation closer to achieving its goal of becoming the reference in sports excellence worldwide by 2020."
In addition to the Tunisian national football team, Aspire Zone's facilities and pitches regularly attract a number of elite football clubs and national teams.
After concluding a training camp for Paris Saint-Germain at the end of December, Aspire Zone welcomed this week Tianjin Quanjian F.C., and FC Bayern Munich.
Meanwhile, Aspire Academy prepares to welcome F.C, KAS Eupen and Guangzhou Evergrande next week. Other teams that have visited Aspire Zone's facilities for training camps include Manchester United, FC Schalke 04, Shanghai Greenland Shenhua FC and Aspire-owned Cultural Deportiva Leonesa.
