With the view to help the expatriate population, students of Class 10 of CBSE-i donated a variety of food items, groceries, garments and other essential goods to be handed over to the Indian Community Benevolent Forum (ICBF) and other social welfare organisations in Doha.
Social Empowerment through Work and Action (SEWA) is a core ingredient of the international curriculum of the CBSE. Using this central activity for engagement, students involve actively in ways that would unleash their inner strength, but at the same time empower the less fortunate than themselves. It is a powerful medium of learning for students pursuing this curriculum. It contributes dynamically to heuristic learning.
The campaign, which went on for a week, received overwhelming patronage from students from Class 1 to 10. They competed with one another to contribute their bit towards the welfare of people in need.
'This is Ramadan and there is no better time in the whole year than the Holy Month of Ramadan to share your love and affection for the poor and the less privileged. Charity begins at home but it should never end there. There is more joy in giving than in receiving. Give until it hurts," Principal A K Shrivastava quoting Mother Teresa said. He appreciated the efforts of student volunteers and teachers who had worked for the success of the campaign.
"Joys of giving can never be expressed fully in words," said Durga Sree Mavuru, Head, CBSE i, Birla Public School, participating in the Smile Campaign.
