Qatar has succeeded in managing the ongoing Gulf crisis rationally with wisdom, poise and self-respect, but human rights violations by the blockading countries remain a cause for concern, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al Thani has said.
In an interview with Qatar News Agency on the occasion of the Qatar National Day (QND), Sheikh Mohammed said this year's QND celebration will be different from any other year as it comes at a time when the country is under an unjust siege.
He said the celebration this year sends messages to the siege countries about Qatar's strength, steadfastness of its community, and the unique cohesion between its people and the wise leadership.
He said celebrating National Day is a unique event, which depicts bright images of the country's identity, unity, cohesion and loyalty to the nation and wise leadership.
This year's slogan of 'Promise of Prosperity and Glory'is perfectly consistent with the feelings of the people of Qatar at this sensitive time. There is a sense of pride among the people Qatar who are looking forward to prosperity despite the illegal measures taken by the siege countries, he added.
"These feelings come out of their belief in the God and they are aware that prosperity will come from their country's independent freedom that is not subject to extortion or intimidation," he said.
Sheikh Mohammed said the human rights violations by the blockading countries are very worrisome there are over 26,000 registered violations."Qatar will not overlook the violations against Qatari people and it is important that settling the crisis must guarantee to never return to this method of retaliation in dealing with citizens when there is a political dispute between governments,"
He reiterated Qatar's readiness for a transparent comprehensive dialogue based on mutual respect for the sovereignty and common obligations to resolve the crisis.
