My cousin who is based in Bahrain asked me:"How are you going to celebrate Qatar's National Day?" I replied:"Same as last year. I think nothing has changed, except that I expect more people to gather during the parade/celebration on Monday."
As an expatriate who's been living here in Qatar for the past six years, I have never been this excited to attend the celebration on the Corniche on December 18. I guess this feeling stems from the love and admiration that I have for this country, which grew even stronger since the blockade started. Six months ago, due to the 'unexpected crisis', I was one of the many expats who thought I will not be able to celebrate another National Day, but because of the leadership, led by the Emir, my family is still here and enjoying the safety and security in this wonderful country. And just like me, my friends are feeling the same way, too. We are all in harmony and agreement in making sure that we attend the National Day celebration to show our support to a country that never let us down, to the leaders who are doing their best to protect the country's sovereignty and its people.
More than ever, I can only agree that in the face of all the allegations and unjust measures taken by the Saudi-led bloc against Qatar, citizens and residents have shown an even greater solidarity and bond. So, on this special occasion, I sincerely congratulate the Qatari government for its outstanding leadership. I wish that the mutual trust and unity amongst the residents in Qatar will live on, and that in no time, the siege will be over and people in the neighbouring countries and the region will all live in perfect harmony and cooperation. All the love!
